Flower Essences Studies

Flower Essences Studies teach that disease is the result of an imbalance or negativity of the soul, and that diluted flower and plant extracts can balance these negativities on a spiritual and emotional level. Flower Essences therapy is similar to the principles of homeopathy, and may be used as an alternative practice to treat both animals and people. Created from nature, Flower Essence therapy is a drug-free, natural way of elevating the mood and healing disease.

Flower Essences are dilute liquid extracts of varied flowers and plants. After the chosen flowers are dried in the sun, a small amount of water is added to the extracted essence and the mixture is preserved with alcohol. This step results in mother tincture, which is diluted again with spring water to make Flower Essence. The essences are used internally or on the skin to balance emotional states, which in turn stimulates the internal healing processes and can help to dissipate illness.

Flower Essences Studies instruct future practitioners in the use of Flower Essences to balance emotional and spiritual wellness and to promote the natural healing abilities of the body.

Essential Oils and Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is very near to herbal therapy ad Ayurveda ( Ayurvedic medicine is an ancient Hindu system of health care that is native to the Indian subcontinent) . On other words, aromatherapy is the branch of plant medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. In Ayurveda, we use various herbs, their extracts and their combinations to treat the particular health problem. Similarly, in Aromatherapy treatment, we use the essential oils extracted from those plants. Aromatherapy is become easier to practice than Ayurveda ad herbal therapy because the essential oils effects more than the herbs. They penetrate the skin because they are the soul (Phytohormone) of the derived plant material.

Glimpse towards the chemistry - Essential Oil is basically a Phytohormone (also known as Plant Growth Regulator (PGR)) of particular plant material which produces in special area of the plant. They serve the same work in the plant that animal hormones serve in the human body. In the plant, the essential oils work as a bactericide, assists in photosynthesis, is the agents that repel the pest and assist in cross pollination. The characteristic smell of the plant is comes from the essential oil it contains. In other words, the essential oils are responsible for smell of plant material. The purpose of odor is to attract insects that carry pollen from other plants. Once the plant is pollinated, it stops emitting the scent and essential oils are then reabsorb into the plant to serve other purposes.

The Essential Oils are well soluble in alcohols and fats. They are very volatile and aromatic. One can get the essential oils from plant in so many ways. The most used method is steam distillation. In this method, the plants are boiled along with water and then condensed the steam into receiver and then separate the volatile oil using special apparatus. The oils are also extracted by using solvent and they can also be produces by pressing the plant in certain pressure. Because of oil tendency to mix with fats, two methods of extraction with fat are used. The first is Enfleurage, in which the plant material is mixed with hot fats with tendency to solidify in room temperature, where the oils are absorbed. The second is maceration (Hot Enfleurage), in which the plants are bathed in hot fat.

Essential Oils have four basic properties that make them usable in skin care:

  1. They are germicidal.
  2. They stimulate or calm.
  3. They penetrate
  4. They contain Phytohormone.

How Can Essential Oils Protect the Subtle Energy Body?

Essential oils can affect all layers of our energy body-physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. They can protect the outer edges of the field by forming a protective shield around us.

What have other cultures used to protect against perceived negative intentions of others or perceived invisible forces?

Cedarwood, pine, juniper, and sage. Juniper has been used not only by many Native American groups but also by Tibetans. Sweetgrass and sage purify one's energies and are thought to attract good "spirits." Frankincense is used by the Roman, Orthodox, and Anglican Catholic churches as well as by Muslims to expel evil spirits and invite the angels to come in. The ancient Romans, Greeks and Egyptians all used fragrance to attract good energy and to keep negative or "bad" energy away. They fumigated their homes, temples and places of business on a regular basis. Censors were kept burning in homes to drive away evil and honor the good deities.

In medieval Europe, witches were feared as evil and rituals involving smoldering fragrant herbs or woods were a daily part of life to protect against their "evil eye." There was also the tradition among many cultures including the Australian aboriginals of aromatically cleansing strangers or guests before allowing them into the village or one's house. Native Americans traditionally smudge the aura to cleanse both the inside and outside of the individual.

White Angelica™ which is a blend of over 20 different aromatic oils is widely known as a protection for the field. This beautiful blend carries a high vibration that can protect the field from energy assaults and negative intentions. It is an excellent oil for the healer to use on themselves prior to doing healing work on an-other.

Using Essential Oils in the Auric Field Brings New Energy to the Field

The auric colors become more vivid and clearer and there is a shift in the density. It literally "lifts" the spirit by raising the person's vibration. What the essential oils do is clear out the "auric debri" (congested energy) thus making way for the field to shift into balance-back into a harmonious whole. We respond to the frequency or vibrational properties of the oils and not just to the oil's chemistry. The human body has a normal vibratory range (electrical frequency) between 62 and 68 megahertz. This is called a state of health. Energy disturbances in the field will actually precede the appearance of disease and illness in the body. When the human frequency range drops below the norm of 62 megahertz, this is when abnormal processes begin to develop.

Healing is the activation of the body's energies toward a dynamic state of equilibrium and balance. We are constantly healing in life towards this state of harmonic health. Our work in healing is to find those combinations that enable the person to move towards a state of harmony and balance-to one of harmonic resonance.

Many of you are familiar with the pure, whole coconut oil which solidifies at room temperature, but you haven't yet experienced Light Coconut Oil.

Light Coconut Oil shares, along with Jojoba oil, the distinction of being closest in molecular structure to your skin's own natural sebum, making it more readily absorbed into your skin and ideal for use in natural skin care and massage products.

As well Light Coconut Oil remains liquid at room temperature and, because of its light consistency, will not clog skin pores, making it suitable to use on sensitive or problem skin.

Another remarkable fact about Light Coconut Oil is that, due to its molecular structure, it is not subject to oxidation. This means that it has an infinite shelf life with no possibility of going rancid.

Light Coconut Oil is water soluble and easily washes out of most fabrics and table linens, leaving no stains or rancid odor.

Aromatherapy Essential Oil: A Treat For Your Senses

One of the best ways to understand exactly how and why aromatherapy works is to really understand what it's origins are. We all see the bath and body related shops at the local mall. And when looking through the various oils, candles and other scented items, we rarely focus on the ingredients. Sure, these products smell good, but what is really exciting is what the various smells - produced by the essential oils inside - actually do to benefit you and your senses.

One of the best things about aromatherapy and what it does for you is the way it can make you feel as though you are transported from one place to another. It is the essential oils that are the heart of all true aromatherapy products. So that you can learn more about the products that you are spraying and massaging into your skin, take a look at the basic facts about aromatherapy essential oils:

The Essence of Essential Oils

Essential oils come from the fragrant essence of plants. The actual oil is obtained by steam distillation, extraction or mechanical removal from the plant. Depending on the oil, the plant roots, buds, leaves, or flower petals may be used. These same essential oils have been used since ancient times in aromatherapy candles, cooking flavorings, incense, spiritual ceremonies and natural healing.

Common aromatherapy plants are juniper, sage and rosemary. One thing to note is that just because aromatherapy essential oils come from lovely plants, that does not mean that they are omnipotent. Too much of certain essential oils can actually be hazardous to your health, so you must be mindful and knowledgeable about the amount used.

What Aromatherapy Essential Oils Do

There are many uses for aromatherapy essential oils. There are therapeutic uses, emotional uses, physical uses and spiritual uses. Aromatherapy essential oils are also very useful in meditation practices. In addition to these uses, there are also various aromatherapy essential oils that relieve sore muscles and stressful moods.

Whatever the situation, there is probably an aromatherapy essential oil to help and heal. When rubbed on the skin, these potent oils are able to find their way into the bloodstream and create what seems like magic.

Aromatherapy Products

You can find aromatherapy essential oils in just about any retail outlet that specializes in natural products. Another way to get the full benefit of these products are by going to a certified massage therapist that uses aromatic essential oils in their practice. You can even convince your significant other to give you a relaxing massage after a particularly hard day and receive many of the same benefits of a professional massage session for a lot less money.

The bottom line is that essential oils are really the foundation of aromatherapy. Being natural and pure, they can really make a difference during a stressful day or week. It's great to know that even through the hustle and bustle of life and living, there is a true, unadulterated source for healing.

Courses in Natural Health - From Aromatherapy to Reflexology

Ranging from aromatherapy to reflexology, courses in natural health are quickly growing in popularity as holistic and natural health treatments offer simple and noninvasive solutions to common health issues.

If you're one of the many individuals who have been repeatedly treated for headaches and other chronic problems by conventional medical doctors, you've probably been prescribed some form of pharmaceutical or invasive procedure. As most of us are aware, conventional drugs (and surgery) may have adverse side effects that affect our functionability. This is primarily one of the main reasons why more individuals are turning to courses in natural health to understand and apply natural and self-healing techniques that may be more effective, without the risk of side effects.

Some of the unique courses in natural health like aromatherapy offer successful candidates certification or diploma upon completion. Healing arts programs like this can be commonly taken through distance learning classes, or through holistic workshops and seminars. More frequently, however, aromatherapy is part of a greater massage therapy or natural healing curriculum. Typical aromatherapy courses in natural health include training in a variety of master blends, aromatherapy history and practice, essential oil/carrier oil profiles, flower essences, botanical therapies, holistic consulting, and more.

There are also courses in natural health that entail a greater range of holistic modalities. These natural health programs may encompass coursework in holistic nursing, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic, homeopathy, and herbal sciences. Though all of these studies differ in curriculum, they all share one common thread in that they are geared toward holistic and natural healing techniques and therapies. If you choose education in these courses in natural health, expect training to be rigorous. Furthermore, unlike shorter educational programs, these courses may take up to five* years to complete. (*Additional training hours may be required for specializations.)

Other courses in natural health like holistic healing, massage therapy, or reflexology can be completed in less than a year. In addition to field-specific applications, these programs provide instruction in anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in learning more about these or other alternative health programs, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, naturopathy, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore courses in natural health near you.

Aromatherapy Basics

Aromatherapy is considered one of the country's biggest businesses today! Need proof? Take a trip to every natural food and herb products store and you will see a variety of aromatherapy products on display. Although relatively new in the United States, aromatherapy's popularity has escalated to unprecedented heights as part of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) since its "birth" in the 80s.

What is aromatherapy? There is still some controversy surrounding this topic. Some claim that aromatherapy is all about fragrances and is commonly perceived as anything that exudes sweet-smelling odor such as that of scented candles and potpourri. Some even claim that the oils used should not even be of natural origin. This is not the true element of aromatherapy. In its absolute meaning, aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from natural botanical sources to influence the physiological and psychological well-being of an individual.

Aromatherapy, or the use of essential oils for healing and therapeutic purposes, traces its origin back from the Neanderthal times. The method was so commonly used all throughout the ancient period that it transverses the boundaries of distance and culture. It was so widely practiced that you can see references from ancient Chinese, Egyptian, Indian, Roman, Tibetan, Australian and New Zealand, North American, South American and Middle Eastern sources.

What are essential oils and how are they used in aromatherapy? Essential oils are the volatile liquid products extracted from plant sources. These oils are extracted from the plant materials either through steam distillation, expression, or through the more recent method of supercritical CO2 extraction.

In steam distillation, steam is directed towards the plant material, which vaporizes the more volatile components of the plant. This process yields two products - the essential oil (contains oil soluble products) and hydrosol (containing water-soluble products). Rose water is one of the most popular hydrosols produced using this method.

Expression is more popularly used in extracting essential oils from citrus fruits. In this process, the peel of a citrus fruit is grated or scraped in order to release the oil. No heat is applied in this method so the oil produced smells essentially the same as that of its source. The oils from lime, lemon and grapefruit are obtained through this method.

In supercritical CO2 extraction, carbon dioxide is used to yield a high-grade extract which has a very similar composition as that of the natural material.

What conditions are usually treated by aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is effective for a wide range of conditions and ailments. Basil oil, for example, can be used to counter depression, sharpen the memory and treat headaches and migraines. Others have stimulating effects on the bodily systems such as the digestive and urinary tracts (bergamot oil) and the circulatory system (black pepper oil). Still others can be used as analgesic (clove oil), as topical antiseptics and disinfectants (tea tree oil, eucalyptus, sandalwood oil, etc.) and insect repellents (bergamot oil, citronella oil). Some even act as aphrodisiacs (Jasmine, Rose, Sandalwood and Ylang ylang oil)!

Applying the essential oil depends on the nature of the condition or ailment to be treated and the desired effects of the therapy. It can be through inhalation (proven to positively affect the psychological well-being of a person), topical application, or ingestion.

Although relatively safe, some people may experience allergic reactions to some of the oils. Cross-sensitivity, or the potential to experience allergic reactions to similar substances, may likewise be another possibility. This may be caused by the presence of adulterants in the oil that you are using. To be on the safe side, take extra precautions whenever using any products. Essential oils are very concentrated so for skin applications, remember to use a concentration not greater than 5% to avoid negative reactions. If you are going to employ inhalation methods, please be advised that exposure should not be more than 15 minutes in 1 hour.

When in doubt, always consult with a qualified practitioner.

Some wonderful tidbits of information. We humans are not the only ones who benefit from these wonderful oils. Plants use these naturally occurring essential oils in controlling and healing infections, humidity, hormonal effects and in attracting or repelling insects, birds and animals.
